Ailurus is a TuneUp Utilities like software for Linux Mint / Ubuntu. It is a Gnome tweaker which can also –
- Help users learn some Linux skills
- Install some nice applications
- Enable some third party repositories
- Display basic hardware information
- Clean APT/YUM cache
- Backup and recover APT/YUM status
- Change GNOME settings
Here’s how to install and use this cool program in Linux Mint / Ubuntu:
1. Issue the following command at the terminal to add Ailurus repository –
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ailurus
2. Issue the following command at the terminal to update to the software lists from the enabled repositories –
sudo apt-get update
3. Issue the following command at the terminal to install Ailurus –
sudo apt-get install ailurus
4. After the installation is complete, click on ‘Menu>System Tools>Ailurus’ to launch the application.
5. When you launch Ailurus for the first time, you will see a warning regarding installation of w32codecs, w64codecs and libdvdcss2. Click ‘Yes’ to continue.

Not sure if it works on latest versions of Ubuntu with Unity desktop.
