xVideoServiceThief is a great software for downloading videos from YouTube and other video streaming sites. Here’s how to install and use xVideoServiceThief in Linux Mint 11 / Ubuntu 11.04 (Refer here for installation and use of xVideoServiceThief in older versions of Linux Mint / Ubuntu):
1. Issue the following command at the terminal –
sudo apt-get install libqt4-webkit libqtmultimediakit1 libqt4-xmlpatterns libqt4-core
2. After installation of libqt4-webkit, libqtmultimediakit1, libqt4-xmlpatterns and libqt4-core is complete, issue the following command at the terminal –
wget http://space.dl.sourceforge.net/project/xviservicethief/GNU_Linux%20Binaries/2.4.1%20bin/xVST_2_4_1-linux-dynamic.tar.gz
3. After the ‘xVST_2_4_1-linux-dynamic.tar.gz’ has been downloaded, issue the following command at terminal –
tar -zxvf xVST_2_4_1-linux-dynamic.tar.gz
4. After the files have been extracted, issue the following command at the terminal –
cd xVST/
5. Now, issue the following command at the terminal –
cd xvst/
6. Now, issue the following command to run the xVideoServiceThief program –
./xvst
7. If you don’t want to run the program from command line every time, you can create a launcher (Desktop Shortcut) for it –
Right-click the desktop and select ‘Create Launcher…’
Choose an icon, name and give the path of the ‘xvst’ executable in the ‘Command:’ field. Click ‘OK’ when done.
You can launch xVideoServiceThief by double-clicking the launcher created on the desktop.
That seems a bit much.
Why don’t you simply emply GetDeb?
