How To Install And Play Angry Birds In Linux Mint / Ubuntu

Here’s how to install and play Angry Birds in Linux Mint / Ubuntu:

1. Issue the following command at the terminal –

sudo apt-get install playonlinux

2. When prompted, select ‘<Ok>’ on the ‘TrueType core fonts for the Web EULA’ screen.

3. Select ‘<Yes>’ to accept the ‘TrueType core fonts for the Web EULA’.

4. After the installation is complete, click on ‘Applications>Wine>Programs>Accessories>Notepad’ to verify if Wine has been installed properly.

5. Wine will perform the initial configuration and start the notepad application. If notepad starts without any errors, Wine has been installed and configured properly on your system. Close the notepad application.

6. Now, click on ‘Applications>Games>PlayOnLinux’.

7. Click ‘Forward’.

8. PlayOnLinux will update it’s application list. Once the application starts, ignore the message about the updated version and click ‘Install’.

9. Now click on ‘Install a .pol package or an unsupported application’.

10. Select ‘Manual installation’ and click ‘Next’.

11. Manual installation wizard will start. Click ‘Forward’.

12. Select ‘Install a program in a new prefix’ and click ‘Forward’.

13. Now, type in a name for your application and click ‘Forward’.

14. Click ‘Forward’ without selecting any option.

15. A Wine prefix will be created for your program. Click ‘Forward’ when done.

16. You’ll be prompted to select the installation file. Click ‘Browse’, select your installation file (Angry Birds installation file for Windows in this case) and click ‘Open’.

17. Click ‘Forward’ and wait for the Angry Birds setup to start.

18. Now, perform the installation of Angry Birds like any other standard Windows application taking care that you do not change the default installation directory during the setup.
