Windows 11’s Notepad, a staple for quick text edits, now comes with Microsoft Copilot enabled by default. While Copilot can be a handy AI assistant, some users might prefer to disable it for a more streamlined, distraction-free writing experience.

If you’re looking to turn off Copilot in Notepad, the process is quick and easy.
Follow these simple steps to do that:
Open Notepad on your Windows 11 PC.
In the top right corner of the Notepad window, you’ll see a gear icon (⚙️). Click on this icon to open the Settings menu.

In the Settings menu, scroll down until you find the section titled AI Features.

Under the AI Features section, you will see an option for Copilot. Click the toggle switch to turn it off.
What Happens Next?
Once you’ve turned off Copilot, you’ll notice a couple of immediate changes in your Notepad interface:

- The Copilot icon will no longer be visible.
- Your Microsoft account icon (which appears near the Copilot icon) will also disappear from Notepad.
Enjoy your enhanced, focused typing experience in Notepad as before!
Happy typing.
