If you have a Dropbox account, then you can directly create and edit Microsoft Word documents without needing a Microsoft account or an Office 365 subscription. This is because Dropbox supports Office integration for its basic, personal, and family plans and you do not need a license to use them.
Here is how to use this feature:
Login to Dropbox web and click on Create.
Choose Document > Microsoft Word.
This launches the Microsoft Word online version. You can then create and edit .docx files directly through Dropbox.
These files will automatically be saved to your Dropbox account, and you can share them as needed. .
To save and exit, click the document name from the top of the screen and click on the Home link.
This will save the document and let you go back to the Dropbox dashboard.
Similarly, you can view and edit existing Microsoft Office documents by uploading them to Dropbox because of this integration.
While this works for Microsoft documents, you will not be able to do so for Google Docs, Sheets, or any of the other Google Workspace products without first linking your Google account with Dropbox.
Happy creating and sharing.
